Lake George Dinner Theatre to Present “Moonlight and Magnolias”

For its 46th season, the Lake George Dinner Theatre will present “Moonlight and Magnolias,” Ron Hutchinson’s behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film “Gone With the Wind,” producing director Terry Rabine has announced.

“I wanted to offer our audience something different, to get away from the romantic comedy genre that we’ve frequently produced,” said Rabine. “I was interested in the possibilities of a story that takes place in 1939 and Hutchinson’s play offers virtually everything I was looking for. It should be very popular with our audience.”

This season’s cast will be led by Jonathan Cantor, who will play MGM Executive Producer David O. Selznick. Cantor’s New York City credits include productions at The Abington Theatre, NY Fringe Festival, and Cocteau Rep.

Jarel Davidow, who starred in the Lake George Dinner Theatre’s production of “The Love List” last summer, will play screenwriter, Ben Hecht. His credits include productions with The Actors Studio, New England Shakespeare Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Jarel is also a member of the Oberon Theatre Ensemble and a lifetime member of The Actors Studio.

Also joining the company this season will be Aaron Holbritter in the role of film director Victor Fleming and Betsy Holt as Selznick’s harried secretary, Ms. Poppenghul.

The Lake George Dinner Theatre’s 2013 season opens on July 11 and runs through October 12 with evening performances every Wednesday through Saturday; dinner seating at 6:30 and curtain at 8pm. Luncheon matinees are scheduled every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with seating at 11:30am and curtain at 1pm. More information is available at lakegeorgedinnertheatre.com.
